Treatment and care for people with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) varies widely throughout the UK. We know that centres of excellence exist but sadly these centres are limited in number and too few patients receive optimum care as a result. It is time for change.
NASS is demanding that the Government acknowledges and responds to the inequalities of healthcare and access to treatment experienced by thousands in the UK. People with AS deserve a better deal. If you have AS or know someone with AS and want a better deal sign the petition for change.
To get the attention of the Government this petition needs more than 50,000 signatures. If you would like better treatment and care for your AS make sure your voice is heard.
Total signatures (both online and offline): 4,149 @ 9 May 2012
How can people get a better deal?
The recently published Looking Ahead report highlights the problems faced by people with AS and provides recommendations ranging from diagnosis to treatment to long term care to optimise care for people in the UK. It is a powerful tool that provides healthcare professionals with a framework for service development and empowers patients to seek appropriate care and treatment. Looking Ahead will raise the profile of AS and the adoption of the recommendations will bring about a better future for people with AS.
