Who we are
Wanstead Branch formed in 1994 on the site of the Old Wanstead Hospital, moved to excellent facilities at Whipps Cross University Hospital in December 2008.
A friendly well attended branch where members take part in hydrotherapy and regular group exercise sessions that are led by our physiotherapists.

What we do
We have seven qualified physiotherapists working in rotation with our branch leading the exercise sessions, who are available for help and advice.
Our sessions in the Hydrotherapy pool consist of stretching and strengthen exercises which help alleviate the effects of AS. After the pool session members can relax and chat in the rest room with people with the same condition and our physiotherapists over light refreshments before taking part in the group exercise sessions.
The two separate Gym sessions last up to an hour and are carried out to your own level and ability. They follow a similar stretching and strengthen programme to help members maintain mobility and posture. The gym equipment is also available for those that wish to be more adventurous.
The branch is supported by the hospital and is complimentary to the Rheumatology Departments new specialised Early Inflammatory Back Pain programme that is aimed to improve early diagnosis, treatment and management of Ankylosing Spondylitis.
