On Wednesday 18 May the new anti TNF therapy golimumab (Simponi) was considered by NICE for AS. Jane Skerrrett, director of NASS, attended the meeting to put forward the view of people with AS along with one of the NASS trustees who has AS.
We put forward a strong case to have golimumab approved by NICE for AS as we believe that people need a whole range of options. Golimumab is a once monthly self injection with similar effectiveness and side effects to the other anti TNFs.
NICE have already approved golimumab for use in RA and in psoriatic arthritis.
We will let you know the outcome of the meeting as soon as we hear from NICE.
