NASS ConferenceThe NASS Conference & AGM took place last Saturday at the Mountbatten Leisure Centre in Portsmouth. Around 150 participants from around the UK took part in a 'speed dating' sessions with health care professionals where they could ask questions on a wide range of topics associated with AS. The conference also covered an update on genetic research, the latest on biologics as well as the importance of exercise and coping with fatigue. NASS would like to thank all the speakers involved. Audio recordings of all the presentations will be available on the members area of NASS website in the next 2-3 weeks.

NASS would also like to thank the Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust's Department of Rheumatology for hosting the conference. The arrangements on the day were superb and saved NASS a lot of administration and expense.

The Annual General Meeting saw Dr Andrei Calin elected as Vice President. Dr Calin has been involved with NASS since 1984 providing medical advice and support throughout his tenure. Professor Paul Wordsworth, Dr Andrew Keat and Grant Poiner were also elected to the Council of Management as ordinary members and Dr Raj Sengupta was elected as a co-opted member. NASS welcomes the new trustees and looks forward to a long and productive association with them.

NASS would also like to thank Brian Bowman, David Lavington and Juliette O'Hea, who all retired as trustees, for their hard work and dedication to NASS for their respective 27 years, 20 years and 15 years of support to NASS and its members.
