Would you like to take part in quick online survey to investigate if people with AS are having problems when staying in hotels?

The idea for the survey came from an enquiry to the Danish AS association from a member asking whether they had a list of hotels with beds and pillows suited to people with AS. He travelled a lot and had many overnight hotel stays both in Denmark and abroad and finding hotels with comfortable beds was a problem for him.

The Ankylosing Spondylitis International Federation (ASIF), which is the umbrella organisation for all the national AS societies across the world, want to find out how big a problem this is for people with AS.

We all know how important it is to us all to get a good night's sleep, particularly if we have work-related overnight hotel stays. Many of us know of hotels where the pillows in the beds are big, firm, and foam-filled. It is an impressive sight when the beds are made but such pillows are often not comfortable to sleep on.

ASIF, with the co-operation of the 25 national member associations, with financial support for the project from Abbott Laboratories, have decided to investigate the extent of the issue through a survey. If you would like to take part in the survey please click here. It should take no longer than 5-10 minutes. Your responses are completely confidential and anonymous. The survey will remain open into the New Year.

If this issue does prove to be a problem the intention is to try to encourage hotels all over the world to have some "arthritis-friendly" rooms available, and smaller hotels to have some AS-friendly pillows and mattresses available. We will keep you uppdated on the progress of the campaign.
