50th Anniversary Dinner and Conference

Join us for TWO community events to celebrate and unite

On the evening of 13 November we will be holding a dinner and awards ceremony to celebrate the axial SpA community and the contributions that so many have made to making the charity what it is today.

And on 14 November we will be holding a conference, uniting people living with axial spondyloarthritis, healthcare professionals, researchers and decision-makers to share learning, highlight good practice and shape future priorities in care and support.

Both events will be held at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre, just a 3 minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station, which is attached to The Holiday Inn hotel, and has onsite parking.

Awards and Community Dinner – Friday 13 November, 6.30pm to 11.30pm (exact times to be confirmed)

The anniversary dinner will recognise achievement and contribution within the community with an awards ceremony, as well as giving us a chance to celebrate 50 years, and reflect on the past, present and what is still to be done. And we hope it will also be a lot of fun!

What’s included?

• Drinks and canapes reception
• Official photography
• 3 course dinner
• DJ

Dress code for this event will be anything from smart to black tie, so get your glad-rags ready!

We are offering 50% subsidised cost for this event at £45 per person, and a reduced rate hotel room at The Holiday Inn at £85 (usual price £150 if booking directly). This subsidy will be funded by a range of sponsorship opportunities that we have on offer to businesses. If you know of any business that might be interested in providing sponsorship, please email fundraising@nass.co.uk.

You will also have the opportunity to pay the full amount to help with the costs of the event, including paying for tickets which can be given to someone who may not be able to afford to attend. 

We know that times are tough for many, and so if you would like to attend the dinner but are unable to cover some or all of the cost at the subsidised rate, please email events@nass.co.uk and we will see what we can do to help.

Axial SpA Conference – Saturday 14 November, 9.30am to 4pm

This year we will be holding a conference which is bigger than our usual annual Members Day. As well as providing the usual practical support for people living with axial SpA, and an opportunity to meet others with the condition, the conference also forms part of our commitment to shaping the next phase of care, research and support for the axial SpA community.

The conference programme will include presentations, discussions and group work focused on:

• NASS and axial SpA – past present and future
• People who’s axial SpA is difficult to manage
• Genomics and polygenetic risk
• Practical fun!

We have some of the top names in rheumatology presenting, as well as some of our own members discussing their experiences of axial SpA and NASS, and their hopes for the future.

What’s included?

This full day conference will include:

• Access to all sessions
• An opportunity to learn new ways to manage your condition
• A chance to meet others living with axial SpA and experts in treating the condition
• Delegate pack including a branded NASS bag and pen
• Refreshments including unlimited coffee and tea, arrival, mid-morning & mid-afternoon snacks breaks and a freshly prepared hot/cold buffet lunch

This event is free to attend. Please note that attendees will be asked to pay a £25 deposit which will be refundable on attendance. You will also be offered the opportunity to donate this towards the cost of the conference when you register.
