Cost: Annual member £12 per year and then £3 per session
The Plymouth branch was founded in 1983 by Dr. Peter Hickling. Anyone with a diagnosis from a UK consultant of axial spondyloarthritis (Axial SpA) or ankylosing spondylitis (AS) in the Plymouth area is very welcome to come and join us.
Every Thursday evening in Derriford Hospital we have alternate hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions. One week we are in the hydrotherapy pool and the next week we are in the gym.
The sessions are led by our marvellous NHS physiotherapists and we all work to our strengths. We can ask any advice from the physios, who are only too keen to help us to keep as active as we can. We also meet once a week for a social stretch.
You will be able to park free of charge at the hospital when attending a session.
We hold social activities through the year as these help to promote feelings of well being and camaraderie. We have fun, which is a good way to support one another and to spread the word about Axial SpA. We also meet for a group stretch on Monday evenings from 19:15 to 20:30
