Once you’ve decided how you’ll get involved, let us know and we’ll provide you all you need – such as a NASS training vest, t-shirts, collection boxes, buckets, leaflets and balloons. You can also download the poster below to highlight the impact that each donation will make to our work.
Setting up an online fundraising page
A great way to start fundraising is to set up an online fundraising page. JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving are two of the most popular websites. They are quick and easy to set up, meaning you can start collecting donations straight away.
Below are some handy tips to get you started.
Tell your story
Your page is a great chance to tell your story to others and engage people. Maybe you are fundraising to support a loved one with AS, or you have the condition yourself and are taking on a personal challenge. Some people may not be aware what AS is, so try to mention this – we can help provide you with some simple information.
Add pictures of you training for your event or in your NASS t-shirt! It makes your page more personal. You can also add pictures afterwards to show your supporters how your event went.
Say thank you!
If someone has donated towards your event and left you with their contact details, remember to send them a quick thank you.
If you’re training for an event, post updates of how your training is going. Your supporters will see the efforts you are making, and may be inspired to take up a challenge themselves or leave an extra donation.
Use social media
Social media is a great way to share your page with friends and family. Remember to:
- Use photos and videos to bring your story to life
- Tell people about AS and what NASS does. Awareness of AS is low in the UK, so it’s important to highlight what it is, how it affects people and why we need your support. We can help you with any information you need
- Tag us in on Twitter (@NASSExercise) and Facebook so we can share too!
- Tag other people to help your message go the extra mile
If you are a UK taxpayer, NASS will be able to reclaim the tax on your donations. This means for every £1 you raise, we can claim back at extra 25 pence – at no extra cost to you.
If you are taking part in a sponsored event or asking people to make donations please ask supporters who work in the UK (and pay tax in the UK) to tick the ‘Gift Aid’ box on when donating your online fundraising page. If you are collecting cash or cheques, please use the sponsorship form below and ask donors to fill in their full address details.
