Thank you to everyone who is joining the Mighty Orange Mashup for NASS! Here are just a few examples of what our supporters are up to for their Mashups...
Colleagues at AbbVie turned their office orange for the day! As well as hosting a bake sale in the office canteen, our new AS Awareness video was played on screens throughout the building. NASS also presented to staff, and a NASS member shared their experiences to over 70 staff.
Stephen Benn hosted a coffee morning at his workplace, raising a fantastic £868 in total. A combination of emails, posters and treats meant he raised awareness of AS to 2,000 colleagues in his office - an incredible effort!
The UCB office in Slough held a bake sale in June, which involved donating selling orange-themed food in the staff canteen, a quiz night, Guess the Oranges game, and a special tour of the UCB lab. Thank you for your support!
Trevor Martin took advantage of the recent sunny weather by hosting a fruit stall for NASS!
Steve Leggatt had a rather unusual activity planned - we'll let Roger Stevens, Chair of NASS Portsmouth, tell you about it...
Steve came up with a very original way to raise money for the branch and NASS UK.
He works for Gosport Borough Council and 4 times a year the council runs a Dress Down Day, with money donated from people “dressing down” going towards a charity.
The Council staff selected NASS Portsmouth and NASS UK as the charity for June as Steve had promised to wear a dress at work all day. This he did with some style - although he did not wear heels to go with the dress - and certainly attracted considerable attention, not to mention helping to educate people about AS
He and his colleagues raised an amazing £385 to be split between his branch and NASS UK
Many thanks must go to Gosport Borough Council for putting on this fun event and especially to Steve for wearing the dress! Well done Steve!
Our friends at Utilitywise held their own dress down day, with a dash of orange! You can read about there support here.
Colleagues at Aegeas also dressed down for NASS, raising an incredible £711! We were nominated by Karen Foreman, her son Lewis and daughter Lydia Foreman (both pictured left) who all work at the company. Their mother and nan sadly passed away in October 2016 after suffering from AS from the age of 34 leaving her wheelchair bound for the last 25 years. The Foreman's wanted to raise awareness of AS with their Mighty Orange Mashup, and did an amazing job - thank you
Tara from Bozeat is organising a dress-down day at her children's school, with donations coming to NASS. Tara and her children raised £200 last year during our Fab At 40 celebrations - we're grateful for your ongoing support!
