Help us to reduce the 8.5 year delay in diagnosis
Back Pain Plus is an awareness campaign aimed at healthcare professionals working in ophthalmology, dermatology and gastroenterology, aiming to help reduce the current 8.5 year delay in diagnosis for people with axial spondyloarthritis including ankylosing spondylitis (AS).
- 26% of people with AS have acute anterior uveitis & 40% of people with acute anterior uveitis have spondyloarthritis
- 9% of people with AS have psoriasis
- 7% of people with AS have inflammatory bowel disease
Refer your patient on
If you suspect your patient has AS or inflammatory back pain, please refer them on to a rheumatologist. We have developed very simple, single sided, explanations for health professionals to print off for their patients explaining why they have been referred onto a rheumatologist.
