The Trust covers both New Cross and Cannock Chase Hospitals
New Cross has a weekly axial SpA (AS) Multi-disciplinary ‘one stop shop’ clinic with access to Consultant, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Clinical Nurse Specialist. All suspected and newly diagnosed patients will be directed to this clinic and then monitored as appropriate. Assessment and individualised care packages are offered. The dedicated Consultant is Dr Nick Barkham.
Cannock Chase Hospital has a monthly Multidisciplinary clinic under the direction of Dr Hem Sapkota and weekly Physiotherapy and biologic nurse clinics.
There is a flare management pathway in place with self -management advice and access to the team via a helpline.
All appropriate patients will have an opportunity to participate in Research and clinical trials on both sites.
The main rehabilitation services are based at Cannock Chase Hospital with a large gymnasium and Hydrotherapy pool. The local NASS group offer weekly sessions for ongoing support under the care of dedicated physiotherapists. The Occupational Therapists have a heavy and light workshop that suitable patients can be referred to. They also support with Vocational (work) issues and advise on fatigue management.
