Queen Alexandra Hospital

  • Weekly axial SpA (AS) clinic
  • New patients are seen by all consultants
  • A physiotherapy annual review, clinical nurse specialist and physiotherapy biologic service for axial SpA (AS) patients is available
  • The rheumatologist with an interest in axial SpA (AS) is Dr S Young Min
  • There are virtual clinics with some of the sub specialties and also a variety of education programmes, including: Tired of Being Tired, No Time for Pain and Getting to Grips with Arthritis, Flare Roller Coaster, DaM it Arthritis
  • The hospital provides: Patient Conferences, Virtual Clinics with Orthopaedics, Bone Health and Osteoporosis Services, Joint Injection Service, Rapid Access and Treatment Service, Patient Advice and Information Line
  • The department works in partnership with the primary care Trust who hosts the local hydrotherapy service. Within this service is offered:  individualized hydrotherapy, group hydrotherapy and a specific 8 week axial SpA (AS) land and water based education and exercise Programme for axial SpA (AS) patients.
  • Two family and friend education sessions are offered per year
