Research Fund Awards

Applications for the 2017 NASS Research Fund closed on 30 April.


In 2016 NASS funded two AS research projects

Our awards were made to:

Dr Jon Packham, Keele University

For his project CLASP – Characterising Low back pain Associated with Skin Psoriasis

Ms Debbie Chagadama, Mile End Hospital

For her project Health-related Quality of Life Experiences of Bangladeshi patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis

In 2015 NASS funded four AS research projects 

Our awards were made to:

Dr Tatiana Macfarlane, University of Aberdeen

For her project into ‘Role of diet in the aetiology of ankylosing spondylitis'

Ms Emma Sargeant, University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff

For her project ‘A service evaluation of the one week and two-week Ankylosing Spondylitis Intensive Rehabilitation Programme'

Dr Helen Davies, Swansea University

For the project ‘Mindfulness intervention in ankylosing spondylitis'

Dr Kirstie Haywood, Warwick Medical School

For the project ‘Fatigue and Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS): improving patient outcomes'.

Debbie Cook, Chief Executive of NASS, said "We launched our research fund when we realised just how important research was to our members and that the topics that were important to them were not being covered by other research bodies. We were thrilled to receive so many excellent applications in areas that really matter to people with AS."
