Live in West Midlands and want help getting back to work?

Has your AS stopped you from working?

Not everybody is able to work with AS, or, indeed wants to continue struggling with work. However, some may feel that, with some help, the barriers they face could be overcome.

RISE (Return to work with Individualised Supported Employment) is a research study that is trying out a new individualised way of supporting people with chronic pain to overcome obstacles they might have to working.
They are seeking adults living in the Birmingham or Coventry area who have a painful condition (such as AS) that has stopped them working for more than 3 months and who want to get back into work.
As part of the research, sucessful applicants will get a job placement tailored just for you. As part of this applicants will need to:
  • Complete a number of questionnaires about your pain and your quality of life
  • Attend a short training course followed by a six week part-time supported employment placement (up to 16 hours a week) in Birmingham or Coventry.
