1 in 200 people in the UK lives with axial Spondyloarthritis (axial SpA), yet 91% of the population has never heard of the condition.
Axial SpA is an inflammatory disease of the spine and joints. It’s invisible and leaves people feeling powerless, in increasing pain and extreme exhaustion. It’s progressive, so every year that passes without treatment can lead to more serious damage. If left untreated, it can freeze the spine and permanently fuse bones.
Help us win the race against axial SpA. Join us as we step forward to raise awareness about axial SpA this October.
It’s really easy to join in. Step Forward for AS is a virtual challenge, which means you can take part wherever you are in the UK! Step forward solo, with your dog, friends, family, or colleagues. There is no minimum or maximum distance, and you can move your own way. It’s all about taking part – so whether you walk 50 meters, run 50 miles, or move for 50 minutes, you’ll be helping us win the race against axial SpA!
Whatever challenge you choose, Go Orange while you do it! We’ll send you a NASS t-shirt or a running vest – we’ve even got dog bandanas for your four-legged friends!
Here’s how you can take part:
- Register online.
- We’ll send you a welcome pack, t-shirt or bandana and a message board so you can share your reasons for stepping forward for AS.
- Join our online community and set up your fundraising page.
- Connect with other participants in our Facebook group.
- Go orange while you complete your challenge on the weekend of 9 and 10 October to raise awareness and funds! Share your photos and updates using the hashtags #GoOrangeforAS and #1in200.
Plus, you can set your own fundraising target, knowing that every penny you raise will help us raise awareness about the symptoms of axial SpA and provide support so that more people can live well the condition sooner.
By raising awareness you can help us win the race against axial SpA. By raising funds, we can help more people tackle the challenges of living with the condition sooner.
