Help to shape the future of the NHS in England

Late on in 2024, the Department for Health and Social Care launched its Change NHS website. This is a consultation which is taking place, looking for the views of people in England on the future of the NHS, including people who use the services, staff and organisations like NASS.

The public engagement exercise will help shape the government’s 10 Year Health Plan which will be published in spring 2025 and will be underlined by three ‘big shifts’ in healthcare – moving care from hospitals to communities, making better use of technology and preventing sickness not just treating it.

NASS has already responded as an organisation to the consultation, and has also had a round table meeting with health care professionals which we will submit as further evidence. We very much would like to encourage people with axial SpA, their families and carers to get involved to make sure that their views are heard, and there are a couple of ways that you can do this.

You can read the full details of the consultation here.

Join a NASS workshop

NASS will be running three one hour workshops on 21 January for people with axial SpA, their families and carers. These will take place at

  • 10.00
  • 12.30
  • 14.00

At each of these workshops we will focus on one of the three ‘big shifts’. We will then feedback the discussions to the Change NHS team for them to consider when the plan is being put together.

If you would like to take part in one of these workshops, please complete the online form. Don’t forget to include your contact details when asked.

Share your experiences in detail

The consultation also allows for people who have used the service to share details of their own personal experiences of using the health care system. It can be positive or negative and can be about one particular aspect or the overall experience.
