NASS responds to call for evidence by Department of Health and Social Care

28.06.2023

In January the Department of Health and Social Care announced a new Major Conditions Strategy in England, to include musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, like axial SpA.

Alongside MSK, cancers, cardiovascular diseases, including stroke and diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, dementia and mental ill health are also included. These condition areas combined account for 60% of the years lost through ill health. The strategy will focus on making sure that people stay healthy, as well as early detection and treatment.

Over the past 6 weeks there has been a call for evidence underway asking for views on how the strategy should be shaped. NASS was pleased to be able to submit our evidence and put forward what people need in the diagnosis, treatment and care of axial SpA. We were also able to give our views on the use of digital technologies and data, as well as the very important topic of mental health.

We were also grateful to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Axial Spondyloarthritis for submitting a response.
