NASS Cornwall

The NASS Cornwall branch was established in early 2023 to provide a county-wide support group for those living with axial SpA. We aim to promote exercise, support and wellbeing for people with axial SpA across the county. Anyone who has a UK diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis (axial SpA) or ankylosing spondylitis is very welcome to join us.

We are running three physiotherapist led hydrotherapy sessions across Cornwall every week.  If you are new to hydrotherapy and think doing it regularly may be beneficial, you are very welcome to join our mid-Cornwall sessions for a free taster before signing up.

On holiday in Cornwall and don’t want to miss your hydrotherapy? We welcome holiday makers to join us for hydrotherapy sessions at the mid-Cornwall locations.

For availablity and booking please contact Lizzy at cornwall.physio@nass.co.uk

If you’re in West Cornwall, we work closely with Harbourside physiotherapy who are a NASS affiliated group.

We’re already finding that we are helping each other through our private Facebook group with ideas, shared experiences and offers of support. If you live in Cornwall please do follow us on Facebook (NASS Cornwall) so you can make contact with others and share information within the private group.  The Facebook group includes information and exercises from NASS.

We are a friendly bunch and we are keen to do whatever we can to help bring the axial SpA community together in Cornwall so we can help and support each other.   Do join us.

Health and Wellbeing Workshop

We are hosting our first health and well-being workshop in October – an opportunity for you to learn more about managing your condition and get to know others in your axial SpA community.

The workshop will be a mixture of exercise tasters (tailored for a range of abilities), along with talks and Q&A sessions. There will be representatives from NASS, and other organisations covering topics such as medication and biologic therapy, physiotherapy, massage and exercise.

We do hope you’ll be able to join us on Saturday 19 October (10 – 4pm) at the Merlin Centre (Hewas Water, PL26 7JF). Tea and coffee will be included in the event cost of £10, along with a full pack of NASS guides and mood bands. You are also very welcome to bring along one carer, partner, friend, or family member for an additional £5. Please bring your own lunch and wear loose fitting comfortable clothing for exercise taster sessions. Spaces are limited, so please book your place by contacting Dee at cornwall@nass.co.uk.
